3. Understanding Athlete Configuration Settings in College Pipe

To make the most of College Pipe, it is important to understand the configuration settings available for athletes in the platform. These settings allow you to customize the experience for your athletes, giving them access to the right features and ensuring the recruiting process runs smoothly.

1. Permissions

The Permissions settings determine what actions athletes are allowed to take on the platform:

  • Athlete in Control of Mail: When enabled, athletes can reach out to college coaches directly from the platform.
  • Athlete Can Integrate Their Own Email: When turned on, athletes can use their personal email accounts to contact coaches, improving email deliverability and response rates.
  • Athlete in Control of University List: Athletes can create, adjust, and manage their university list independently using the heart icon to add or remove schools.

2. Access To

The Access To settings define what features athletes can see and use when logged in:

  • Profile: Athletes can view and modify their profile information.
  • Find University: Athletes have access to the full database of universities offering their sport and can use filters to conduct research.
  • My University List: Athletes can view both their long list and shortlist of universities.
  • Recruiting Insights: Athletes can see which coaches have viewed or favored their profile and when this activity occurred.
  • Personal Fit: Athletes can see their five-star rating with every university, if enabled.
  • Access to All Tasks: If turned on, athletes will see all tasks, which can be used as educational resources for DIY platforms. When this is off, athletes will only see the tasks that have been specifically assigned to them.

3. Profile - Budget Displayed

This setting controls whether an athlete’s budget is visible on their profile:

  • Annual Max Budget: When this option is enabled, the athlete’s annual budget is displayed on their profile. If turned off, it will simply state "Not Public." Coaches can still search for athletes using the budget filter, but they will not see the exact budget.

4. Profile - Contact Details Displayed

This setting determines whether the contact details of the following people are displayed on the athlete’s profile:

  • Athlete
  • Parent
  • Current Coach

If turned off, none of these details will be visible to anyone viewing the profile.

Important: Test Your Configuration

It’s essential to get familiar with these configurations by logging in as yourself (administrator) and as an athlete using different browsers. This allows you to see how the system looks from both perspectives.

You can adjust these settings under:
My Organization > Athletes/Students > Click on Athlete > Settings.

Ensuring these settings are correct and aligned with your process will create a more effective and personalized recruiting experience for your athletes.
